The Queen of Summer 2023

'He Ataahua te Whakaahua'

So we take time to acknowledge one of the biggest idols in my community of Whaitara, as the first year anniversary of Tira Wilson's passing passes in term. She battled Cancer numerous times but that didnt stop her from doing what she loved the most. Singing bought a peace of heaven to reality when we heard her voice. Her motherly instincts were top notch not only with her own children but also with the many mokopuna in Waitara community. This beautiful woman was approached by Kōrero Creatives to take part in our project 'He Ataahua Te Whakaahua' beacause of the biggest battle she fought and walked out victorious, because of the journey she was on, and how much people she inspired whilst on this path, including our owner. Unfortunately we tragically lost her before the launch and out of respect we held off.

This picture was encouraged by Tira's oldest son Harlem who was her greatest supporter and photographer, but wholeheartedly supported by all her children Harlem, Imani, Connor and Sam. She was proud of her war wound as she called it, revising on our chats together. We hope you sing loud and proud our queen, may the singing angel choir be jelous x
